Hi,

There is following mention about the heat-sink on the datasheet p6.

"Heatsink must be connected to GND"

Does it mean that thermal pad must be connected to GND through heatsink?

In other words, does it mean silicon gris must not be used?

Kuramochi-san,

This means that the Heatsink must be connected to GND so the heatsink is not charged through the parasitic capacitance from the device. This charge is unknown and it is best to ground the heatsink so that this charge is drained to ground.

The thermal grease will not insulate this. The connection is capacitive not resistive.

I understood what the heatsink must be connected to GND.
I'm recognizing that this GND means GND of the board, right?

And I would like to confirm connection of thermal pad.
Must thermal pad be connected to the heatsink electrically?

Kuramochi-san,
Coupled through a capacitance is electrically connected. You want to know if it needs a zero ohm connection. It is not necessary.

I'm recognizing that both conductive grease and non-conductive grease can be used.
