TLV320AIC3100: SPKP (x2) and SPKM (x2) pins truly connected internally? Do both need to be connected externally?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3100

Hello,  I have a customer potentially looking to use AIC3100 in lower-end product spin where AIC3110 has been used.  Would like to maintain same PCB layout, with no-pop on the 2nd speaker path.  Question is where there is any difference in volume level or anything, if Pin-23 and Pin-26 are left floating???   The block diagram shows an internal connection between Pins 22 & 26,   and Pins 19 & 23.   I just wanted to make sure this is accurate, and there is not a requirement to have these pins connected together externally.   Please advise.   Thank you.

  • Hi, Eric,

We recommend to connect both pins externally too. This is due to the current that the device can provide. The TLV320AIC3100 requires of both pins to handle the low speaker loads. If only one pin is used, all the current will pass through the pin and there could be risk of damage the output.
