TLV320AIC3204: TLV320AIC3204 / Pop noise at HPL during power-up

Part Number: TLV320AIC3204

Hi,

My customer is facing the pop noise issue at HPL output during power-up with connecting HP as below. I'd like to ask the solution to reduce this noise. I already checked it by using EVM then it's also confirmed. They already performed following actions but it was not improved.

  • Add pull-down resistor between HPL output and GND. And adjust the resistor value.
  • Delay reset timing
  • Add decoupling capacitor on DVDD and AVDD to slow startup time
  • Add external diode between DVDD and AVDD following Fig 4 in SLAA492A

I can provide the customer's schematic off line, so find my email address in profile please contact me directly.

  • Hi, Satoshi-san,

The pop issues are common at the HPL and HPR outputs in our audio converters. When they are caused by power up events, we recommend to add a higher capacitor at the power supplies, this will reduce the power up time. Then, ensure that the power supply sequences are respected as mentioned in SLAA492A. Finally, you may add additional capacitors at the HPL/HPR outputs as shown in the EVM schematic (C12, C13 and C14 NI capacitors: www.ti.com/.../slau266a.pdf ).

Please let me know if the problem persists.

    Best regards,
