TLV320ADC3101EVM-K: blue screen when plugged into USB port.

Part Number: TLV320ADC3101EVM-K

when connecting the evm to windows 10 machines bsod consistently occurs. module was previously working until evm was programmed with USBMODEVM0202_8KHZ.bin using the eeprom writer utility in the ADC3101 CS software. is it possible to reprogram the evm back to factory defaults or is there an updated usb driver that would resolve this issue?

  • Hi, Mike,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

First of all, I would recommend to ensure that all the jumpers and switches are placed in default state as mentioned in the User's Guide:

    www.ti.com/.../slau267a.pdf

Then, if the problem persists, I recommend to follow the next steps to get the EVM configured with the default settings and the sampling rate that you are looking for:

    e2e.ti.com/.../2790.how-to-revive-a-usb-audio-evm

Please let me know if the problem persists.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
  • I confirmed that the jumpers are in the default positions. Performed the steps to revive the evm but the found new hardware wizard never appeared as in step 6 . I tried to install the driver manually but got a “no suitable driver found message” when I selected the driver folder.
USB-MODEVM appears under other devices in device manager but says that “there are no compatible drivers for this device”.

  • Hi, Mike,

During the steps to revive the EVM, have you noticed if a DFUUSB device appeared in the Device Manager Window? This option is also valid to continue with the procedure.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
  • I replaced the USB MODEVM board with another that we had and was able to complete the steps for the revive procedure but the GUI doesn’t see the EVM. I uninstalled and reinstalled the GUI but still no dice.
After rebooting DFUUSB is listed under USB controllers in device manager but no new audio devices are listed.

  • Hi, Mike,

You only need the DFUUSB listed to proceed. There's no need for wait for a new audio device in the list. Once you have the DFUUSB device, you may continue with step 7.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
  • It took a few more tries but I was finally able to complete the procedure again and this time the GUI works as well. Thanks for your help. - Mike
