TAS5731EVM: TAS5731EVM Speaker Spec confirmation

Part Number: TAS5731EVM

Hi,

I need some help to see if the speaker spec, below can be used along with TAS5731EVM.

Earlier we were using totally 3 speakers shown in below link

Connections are shown in the image below.

Now we want to change to following speakers. Can following speakers work with out any hardware change?

Hi Ranjith,

Given the information above, the new speaker should work with this device. I would, however, recommend being careful not to overdrive the speaker since the max power rating between the speakers is so drastic (15 W down to 6.76 W). You could use the device's DRC functionality to limit the power delivered to the load to mitigate this risk.

The DRC functionality you mentioned is configurable through SW right.

Can I request you to provide me the correct setting for using these speakers, if possible?

Hi Ranjith,

Yes, the DRC is configurable through SW.

Though I don't have any specific instructions, I would recommend looking at the following documentation, in addition to the TAS5731 datasheet:

These documents should provide a good understanding of how the DRC works and how to configure it for your application.

I have another question on TAS5731EVM.

Is there a way we can delay the audio o/p from TAS5731EVM by 20msec before it plays audio out in the speaker?

Can you let us know how it can be configured in SW.

Hi Ranjith,

This is not possible with the TAS5731, as this would require a great deal of memory to accomplish. However, TI does have the TPA5050 Audio Delay Processor, with which you could achieve a wide range of delay times (up to 170ms at fs=48kHz). In this case, setting the device to delay 1024 samples at a sampling rate of 48kHz would provide 21.3ms of delay.
