TPA6211A1: VDD max. when SHUTDOWN pin = LOW

Part Number: TPA6211A1

Hi.

We would like to use the TPA6211a1 in our design. When our device is active with the audio amplifier (SHUTDOWN = High), the voltage on VDD is under 5.5V.

But, when the audio amplifier is switched off (SHUTDOWN = Low), this voltage can reach about 5.6-5.7V. Meaning above "recommended voltage" (5.5V), but always below "Absolute max." (6.0V).

As our device is in most of time of its life in standby (95% of time), this voltage will be 5.6-5.7V.

QUESTION: Can this low over-voltage damage the TPA6211A1 after a long period of time?

This specification is not described into the datasheet.

Thx for answer.

  • Hi Simon,

There should be no problem as long as voltage is below absolute max. Operating above recommended voltage may affect device performance (spec is obtained with values within recommended operating conditions) but as the voltage is below 5.5V when the device is operating there should be no problem.
