TAS5411-Q1: Saturation current of inductor

Part Number: TAS5411-Q1

Hi,

I received the following question from my customer.

How should we design the saturation current of the inductor?

Should we consider the actual max output current or current limit value of the TAS5411Q1?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

I would recommend choosing inductors that are rated above the output current limit value. For example, with the TAS5411-Q1, the output current limit is 2.4A, and the inductors on the EVM are rated at 2.7A. I recommend having some margin because, depending on how the output current is ramped and due to propagation delay, the output current may exceed the output current limit for a brief moment.

Is your customer considering/evaluating any specific inductors?

    Regards,
    Brian Angiel
