TPA6120A2: Radiated RF Noise

Part Number: TPA6120A2

Hi Team –

Posting this on customer behalf.

The TPA6120A2 headphone amp appears to be very susceptible to radiated RF noise.  I’ve done some poking around on the TI forums but haven’t seen anything that indicates an issue or a way to prevent it.  Do you have any suggestions for preventing RF issues short of placing a shield can on the PCB over the TPA6120A2?

Thanks!

  • Hi Dan,

We haven't seen or supported an issue like this with TPA6120A2 before. Perhaps you can look into the PCB design or add some filtering to remove the high frequencies.
There is a presentation with some recommendations that could help on the following post: e2e.ti.com/.../211153
This presentation is for Class-D amplifiers but most of it can be applied to Class-AB amplifiers as well.
