TAS5760M: PurePath and EVM don not work

Part Number: TAS5760M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5760XXEVM, TLV320AIC3262,

Hi,

We got PurePath Console Motherboard (Rev. F, probably) and
TAS5760xxEVM very recently and tried the analog input AIN1
in the BTL mode.  However, we got no sound from the speaker
outputs so far.  What we could observe are as follows:

The I2S signals, i.e., MCLK, SCLK, SDIN, LRCK, look
normal at the TAS5760 input pins, though we aren't sure
whether those signals are made based on the AIN1 source
    (maybe not AIN1).

The other TAS5760 pins look normal; it is not in the
fault state nor the shutdown mode; the output pins are
    swinging between GND and VDD.

On the other hand, the headphones output are OK for
the AIN1 and the USB audio input.

For these phenomena, we suspect the signal paths in TLV320AIC3262
(DIN3 -> DOUT1) is not configured correctly.  Is there another
thing we have to do on TLV320AIC3262?  Otherwise, do you have
any idea to make it work?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,

  • Hi, Yamaoka-san,

In order to use the analog inputs of the PPCMB as the source for the TAS5760MEVM the AIC3262 should be configured, this is done on the GUI's Main tab by selecting "Line IN" diagram. Also, when first initializing the TAS5760xx plugin, if no code is written to the amp yo should toggle bit 0 of register 0x01 as by default the device is configured in PBTL mode.

  • Hi again,

Thank you for your reply so quickly.  We believe we have done
all the essential settings as shown in the attached screenshot.
Are there any options other than clicking components in GUI?

    Thanks in advance.

  • We tried making the audio data signal bypass AIC3262, but it changed nothing.

  • We got a chance to use PPCMB Rev. D, and tried.  It and EVM work with the software version 1.16, with which Rev. F and EVM don't work.  Hmm...

  • Hi, Yamaoka-san,

Thanks for the feedback, this might indicate that the used PPCMB Rev F is damaged. Do you have any captures of the output of the TAS5760M when using the PPCMB Rev F?, this could give us an idea of the root cause of the issue.

  • Hi Diego,

We have three PPCMB Rev F boards and two EVM boards.  We confirmed any combination of them doesn't work, so we cannot imagine all those three PPCMBs have been damaged.  On the other hand, we are asking an agency for replacing them with Rev D.

    Thanks.

  • Hi, Katsumi,

Thanks for the feedback. If none of the boards is working, the issue could probably be related to the device default configuration mentioned before. Could you please try toggling bit D0 of register 0x01 using the Registers tab of the GUI to make sure the amplifier is not in PBTL mode while using PPCMB Rev F?.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • Hi Diego,

Oh, Rev F works!!  What we have ever done seem only to confirm that D0 is set to 1 (i.e., not shutdown).  But toggling the bit triggers the initialization of the internal resisters, doesn't it?

Anyway thanks a lot for your help.  You may close this thread.
