TAS5631B: Could PWM signal from TAS5711 drive TAS5631B?

Part Number: TAS5631B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5711, , TAS5518, TAS5558, TAS5631

Dears

we have design  active speaker used TAS5631B, but the pwm signal we use TAS5711 generate replace tas5518. Now we testing, we find that some issue.

when give 8 ohms load  to tas5631b, when it don't in clipping status , the output is ok, but when it in 10~30% chilpping status, the chip TAS5631B happen to damage , and so many times it is the same processs.

So can you comfirm whether  PWM form tas5711 can give to TAS5631B, and need to attent.

attach file is the sch , can you help to check ? thx

  • Aggil,

Using a Class-D digital amp (TAS5711) for the front end before the PWM input TAS5631 is a BAD idea. We cannot support this. The customer should use a DAC or TAS5558 device before the TAS5631.

The damage they are seeing is because there is probably a dead-time issue from the cascaded gate drive circuits, or the input is being over-driven. The inputs of the TAS5631 can only accept an absolute maximum input voltage of 4.2V relative to ground.
