TPA3255EVM: TPA3255

Part Number: TPA3255EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3255

Hi TI team, just to ask if you are planning to post the gerber design files for this EVM module? Also, is there a build in volume control on this module or if not, what is the way to control the volume with this device TPA3255? Is there an option for either digital or analog volume control? Thanks, Tihomir

  • Hi Tihomir,

I can send you the EVM gerber design files in an email. Look for my friend request on E2E so we can exchange contact information.

As for volume control, the TPA3255 is a fixed gain device, so there is no volume control. You would have to control the volume at the input of the TPA3255, whether that be an analog solution such as a potentiometer controlled gain / attenuation circuit or digital solution such as gain control on the ADC.

    Regards,
    Dan
  • Hello Dan,

Thank you for your reply, my e-mail is: tihomirt@ece.ubc.ca

It would be great if you can send me the gerber files, including the paste layers.

What is the fixed gain of this device TPA3255? I understand that the Vin max = 3.9V.

    Best regards,

    Tihomir

  • Hello Dan,
sorry, one more question, what is recommended as a power supply? Is switching regulated power supply acceptable? could you suggest any TI solution?
    Thanks,

    Tihomir
  • Hi Tihomir,

I've sent an email with the files your way.

The gain can be found in the table 7.5 Electrical Characteristics of the datasheet. For the TPA3255 it is 21.5dB.

Power supply is tougher question to answer. It all depends on your application. With anything audio you're going to want to look for something with low noise. As far as TI solutions, we have a reference design for 200W Continuous PSU that was designed for Class-D Amplifiers. If you really need more power you could utilize the 600W Isolated PFC AVR Power Supply Evaluation Module.

    Regards,

    Dan
