TAS2552EVM: EVM not working for I2S input, but working on Analog input.

Part Number: TAS2552EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2552

Hi,

I am using the TAS2552EVM to do some evaluation using I2S. I am able to use Analog in to get the class D amplifier work. but I would like to use I2S thru PC to get the class D working, I set all the jumpers and run the script file as per stated in the user guide, unfortunately, there is no output from the class D. And I checked, there is only MCLK is toggling.

May I know is there any setting i need to set to get the TAS1020 to output I2S to the codec and amplifier?

Thanks and best regards,

KH

  • Hi KH,

I'm currently working on this issue.
However TAS2552 should be able to work fine using an external I2S source. External source can be connected to JP3 jumpers.
I'll let you know as soon as I find a workaround for this problem with TAS1020B.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Ivan,

Can i confirm with you, is this a known issue when using PC to output I2S?

    Thanks,

  • Hi KH,

I'm having same problem as you with the EVM board when trying to play audio from PC through TAS1020B.
This is not an I2S interface issue with TAS2552 but seems to be something wrong on the configuration of TAS1020B.
I'm currently working on this trying to find a workaround.
However TAS2552 is operating fine and I2S interface can be used with an external I2S source like AP system connected to JP3.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Ivan,

Roughly when the workaround solution will be ready? Shall we take it offline?

    Thanks and best regards,

  • Hi KH,

I've been testing another TAS2552 evaluation board and this one is working fine with I2S through PC connection too.
This board I'm testing is a fresh one shipped recently from TI store. The board I have with the issue present is an older one.
Is the evaluation board you're using a recently shipped one? I'm trying to figure out what is causing this issue.

  • Hi Ivan,

Mine is consider new because I get it at March 2017 from eStore as well. Need your help to find out why the new one is working at your side. I am talking to the potential customers on this device, do have time constraint and I need to get this work to do a demo to customer on this. Else, we might lost the socket...

    Thanks and best regards,
