Hello,

I'm using a TLV320AIC3254, mated to a TMS320C6748. Under various scenarios, I change the right or left MICPGA volume, via registers Page 1 / Register 59 and 60. I'd like to have instant feedback to the DSP, on when the new volume has actually taken place, after change registers 59 or 60. I can poll the bits in Page 0 / Register 36, bits D3 and D7. But that has a lot of delay, via the I2C communication to the codec, etc. Is there a more instantaneous manner to inform the DSP when the volume change has taken effect?

Hi, Robert,

Unfortunately, the only way to verify if the ADC PGA has been modified is with the ADC Flag Register (Page 0 / Register 36). If you are looking to reduce the delay, I recommend to verify if the soft-stepping function is enabled. This function adds a delay to increase/decrease the MICPGA. You may try disabling it with page 0 / register 81.

Thanks Luis. I do have it disabled. It's not so much the delay, as I need to know deterministically when it's happening (to coordinate associated changes occurring on a sample-by-sample basis for the input stream).

Hi, Robert,

Page 0 / Register 36 is the only way to verify if there are changes on the PGA gain. So, the delay will be determined by the I2C speed.
