TLV320AIC3101: how to reduce pop noise

Part Number: TLV320AIC3101

Please let us know how to reduce the pop noise on AIC3101 output.

We can hear "pop noise" whenever we control the D0 bit (power control ) of the following register.

Page 0/Register 51 HPLOUT Output Level Control Register D0(HPLOUT Power Control)

Page 0/Register 65 HPROUT Output Level Control Register D0(HOROUT Power Control)

Is there any way to reduce the pop noise from output.

We tried to modify the following register but pop noise remains.

Please let us know any registers we can modify for reducing the pop noise.

Thank you.

  • Hi,

Pop in the headphone outputs is generally caused during initial configuration when a common mode voltage is applied to the the HP outputs. Register 42 is used to ramp the HP output power up process to minimize possible pop effects.

In order to reduce the pop, you might try setting bit D2 of registers 51 and 65 to zero in order to weakly drive the HP outputs to a common mode when powering down. Another thing to try would be to mute the HP outputs before turning them down.
