TAS2505: TAS2505 vs TLV320DAC3100

Part Number: TAS2505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3100, , TAS2552

Hi,

May I know what's the significant difference or advantage between TAS2505 and TLV320DAC3100 beside the stereo?

Does TAS2505 has similar mixer that can combine left and right channels to make monaural signals (section 9.4.6 or datasheet)?

Thanks,

Christina

  • Hi Christina,

Some differences are that TLV320DAC3100 features volume control through 7-bit ADC in addition to register volume control. It also have MICDET and MICBIAS.
TAS2505 features an internal LDO that can be used to supply AVDD (internally) and DVDD (externally).
Both devices have mixers to combine channel signals.

  • Hi Ivan,

The customer had decided to change the spec to driving 4W peak power instead.

I found TAS2552 would be a suitable choice but it does not have built-in mixer that can combine left- and right-channel to make monaural signals. May I know which other TI device support mixer feature with a peak power like 4W?

    Thanks,
    Christina
  • Hi Christina,

You can select the digital input source using register 0x03 bits 4-3. The options available are:
    00 = Modulator input muted
01 = Use left stream for modulator
10 = Use right stream for modulator
11 = Use average of left and right streams for modulator
If you want to mix both channels you could set these bits to 11.
