TAS2552: Stereo in, mono out

Part Number: TAS2552

Hi,

Just a quick question.  I have searched through E2E and don;t think this is addressed before.

My customer wants to use TAS2552 with I2S as the audio source.  Since this part has only a mono DAC and amplifier, but the I2S contains both the Left and Right audio channel data.  Will it automatically mix both Left and Right channel and output as a monaural signal ?

Thank you.

  • Hi uMin,

    You can select the digital input source using register 0x03 bits 4-3. The options available are:
    00 = Modulator input muted
    01 = Use left stream for modulator
    10 = Use right stream for modulator
    11 = Use average of left and right streams for modulator
    If you want to mix both channels you could set these bits to 11.
