PCM5122EVM-U: Issue connecting with PurePath Studio and PurePath Console

Part Number: PCM5122EVM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PUREPATHCONSOLE, PCM5142, PCM5122

When trying to connect via PurePath Studio I get

Connecting to the EVM.
Found board type: FWIDPCM5101EVM-S.
Board sampling rate: 48000Hz.

Application run failed.  Error: Unable to connect to hardware

After searching the forum I found this:

e2e.ti.com/.../2710.pcm514x-and-pcm512x-evm-connection-issues-and-solution
 which suggests using PurePathConsole.

in the instructions I should download and extract 3240.USB-miniEVM0221_441KHZ.BIN. What do I use to do so? will doing so allow me access to the target menu? I currently only have i2c Master.

  • Hi, Dennis,

Welcome to E2E, Thanks for your interest in our products!.

I am assuming that you have installed PurePath Console 3 where only the I²C master is available by default. The PurePath Console version used in the post you refer  is PurePath Console 1. This is the version that is compatible with PCM5142, so I would recommend you to download and install PPC1 to check if your firmware issue gets fixed.

  • Can you give me a pointer to the actual product? None of the links differentiate between the various versions. Also, I the board itself has a PCM5122. Will that be an issue?
  • Hi, Dennis,

You need to go to mySecure Software site and then, in PurePath Console section, look for PurePath Console 1 and download the installation file.

The device itself might not be an issue as the problem in PurePath Studio seems related to a firmware issue.

  • Sorry if I seem obtuse, but the only thing I see when I log into mySecureSoftware is a list of items I have available to download. The only link is the download itself. Searching in the OPN box only lists my own downloads and searching in anything else places me in the cave of twisty little passages all different.
  • Hi, Dennis,

Thanks for the feedback. You should access to PurePath Console software page by clicking in Access button at the left side of the PurePath Console box area. Once in PurePath Console page, you can find PurePath Console 1 available files.
