PCM1808: Mic Bias on PCM1808

Part Number: PCM1808
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1803A, PCM1807, TLV320AIC3204

When I design a PCB to connect a Microphone on the V(In) lines of PCM1808/PCM1807/PCM1803A, where will the mic bias be provided from ?

I do not see any Mic Bias unit in the block diagram of the IC, like the one I see on the TLV320AIC3204 codec.

How do I supply the mic Bias if it's not built-in. Any reference design/guidelines to do this ?

  • Hi, Bhargav,

The PCM1808/PCM1807/PCM1803A does not feature an internal micbias that could be used to power up the microphone. The mic operation with these devices will require an external micbias. External micbias operation is achieved by just powering up the microphone with an external power supply according to the microphone specs. The connection depends on the architecture of the ADC input, for the case of the devices you listed, Single-Ended is used.

For a single Ended microphone connection, the micbias voltage circuit should be as follows:
