TAS5342LA: Pop noise and Mid-Z sequence

Hi

I have question of TAS5342LA mid-z compatibility.

1.

To reduce pop noise when powering up, mid-z sequence would be effective.

Is mid-z sequence the solution offered by external PWM processor, not TAS5342LA itself?

2.

Do you have any idea to reduce pop noise while de-assering /RESET when powering up TAS5342LA?

Do you think it can be brought good impact by controlling RESET signal? (For example, ramp up RESET early etc...)

I now want the answer of TAS5342LA, not other device solution, sorry.

BestRegards

  • Hi Na,

    1. Yes Mid Z is a function that is implemented in the PWM itself, so the source of the PWM source (modulator) must support it. The TAS5086, TAS5548, and TAS5558 modulators support mid-z functionality.

    2. If you are waiting until after power up to de-assert reset, then this would be the best case scenario if you are not using the mid-z startup functionality our companion modulators provide.
