ADC/DAC or CODEC for guitar effects pedal

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM3002

Hi All,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a ADC/DAC pair or a codec which could be used for the input and output of a guitar effects pedal/stompbox?

Regards

GD

  • Hi, George,

We could provide some suggestions for audio devices that could be suitable for this application, but first we need more information about the general system level requirements like like ADC/DAC performance, number of channels, processing, power requirements, etc.

  • Hi Diego,

Only needs to be 1 channel in and 1 out, at least 48kHz samplin,  processing will be done elsewhere, ideally i2s interface.

Its mostly is there a chip with the "universal front end" as with the pcm186* but with a line level analogue output also.

    Many thanks

  • Hi, George,

Thanks for the feedback. Depending on the complexity of your design, we have a couple options for you. If you need a simple device able to convert from analog to I²S and receive I²S data to stream analog output, probably a device like PCM3002 could be considered. A more complex solution, with better performance could be achieved by using an ADC/DAC combination between a PCM186x and PCM51xx devices.
