TAS5731EVM: Error

Hi,

I bought a TAs5731EVM evaluation board but I can not get it started. I follow the steps of initializing the datasheet (environment variables, GDE installation, connect 5V, connect 24V to PVCC) and I do not get anything to be heard at the output. I have checked the signals and I see that MCLK is at all times at LOW level (0V) I start to think that the MC57xxPSIA board is faulty. Could you help me, please?

Hello Antonio! Shawn can help you with further questions, but also a quick question... Do you also have the latest version of the GUI installed (TAS57X1 GUI TAS57x1_v2.1_Build_8 (Rev. A) ), and if so is it booting OK for you? Thanks, Jeff

Hi Antonio,

The first thing we need to confirm is the success of I2C write/read on TAS5731EVM. Did you read and write the register on the device?

Could you please let let me know what is the input signal for the audio amplifier? Please set correctly on JP4 to select the right input source.

Hi,

Indeed, I can read the I2C address and the rest of the record correctly but there is no signal at that point. Nor does the MCLK signal exist.

Hi Antonio,
Sorry for the late reply. Did you resolve the issue? I think it should be caused by the wrong jumper setting on the MC57xxPSIA board. What is the input source, OPTO? RCA? or USB? You need to set the right jumpers(J4, J5, J11) for the source.
And set the jumper J6~J10 correctly to let the I2S signal go to TAS5731 EVM.
When you see the right I2S signal on the J1 on MC57xxPSIA board, you can start to run GDE GUI, please don't forget to adapt the volumn in GUI and observe the output signal.
