TPA3244: PVDD question

Part Number: TPA3244

Hi all,

My custoerm wants to know : What’s PVDD voltage of TPA3244 could be for THD+N<0.1% (Frequency: 100~16KHz) with 50Watt ouputt power (25Watt*2)? Will with any specific condition ?

Best regards,

Albert Lee.

  • Hi Albert,

As I understand your question, you are trying to find the minimum PVDD that can support your application. Your application requirements are:

    • 25 Watts per channel (2 x 25 Watts = 50 Watts)
    • BTL
    • <0.1% THD+N at 25 Watts per channel

Please let me know if I am incorrect in my understanding.

We don't have a typical characteristic curve  of Output Power vs Supply Voltage for 0.1% THD , but we do have one for 1% (see Figure 5 on page 10 of the TPA3244 datasheet). We will use this as a first pass.

As you can see from the lines I drew, for a 4 ohm load this comes out to about 16V. For an 8 ohm load, this is about 22V.

But 0.1% THD+N is a tougher requirement to meet, so we will have to increase the voltage, but by how much?

I looked at some bench measurements. Here are the results I found on from the bench:

Supply voltage required to get 0.1% THD+N for 25 Watts

    Load Supply Voltage
    4 17
    6 20
    8 23

    Best Regards,

    Dan

  • Hi Dan,

      Thanks a lot.
