TPA3255: Reset urgent help

Hi i am starting to use the TPA3255 and 3251 in musical instrument amplifier, the first prototype pcb working very well but i must to solve an important issue about the Reset: my queestion is "What is the best way to create an auto reset in case of short peak (easy happen in guitar amplifiers) the manual reset can't be use in live performance so pls tell me the best solution to avoid the manual reset. Hi Ugo,

We have implemented this functionality on our EVMs, so I suggest you just copy our circuitry. Check out page two of our EVM schematic: http://www.ti.com/lit/df/slar129a/slar129a.pdf The auto-reset control circuit is in the bottom left hand side. Note that on our EVM, you have to populate J13 to enable this function.

Basically, you monitor the fault line with a supervisor IC, and use that to trigger reset.

Thank you Dan the best support! It a a pleasure use TI device! The last question and then i am ok: I am using the TPA3251 and 3255 in PBTL mode, i can GND the Input_B with a cap or i must to use the balance way? THank you very much and Best Regards.

Hi Ugo,

It may be possible for the TPA3251 (I believe the DC protection will not allow this on the TPA3255), but I'm not sure why you would want to do that. If you do not drive Input_B in PBTL, you will not be able to achieve full power for the device. Why do you want to GND the Input_B with a cap?

Ok Dan i follow you, and what about the TPA3116 in PBTL ? It's the same? if i gnd with cap the INNR i will not achieve the full power? Thank you and best regards.

Hi Ugo,
Yes that is correct. You would not achieve full power if you gnd with a cap the input to INNR.
