PCM1861: About PCM1861

Part Number: PCM1861
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1863

Hi TI experts,

According to the Spec , when PCM1861 is in master mode, the BCK is always at 64fs.  If so, does it default to generate 32bits data per channel all the time?

Thank you

Fai

  • Hi, Fai,

When the PCM1861 is configured in master mode, the device generates the bit clock with a fixed frequency of 65×Fs, and as you mention, this configuration allows a maximum 32-bit data per channel. However, the PCM1861 will send 24 bits of data with this configuration. Software controlled devices of this family, like the PCM1863, can be configured to send 32 bits of data per channel.
