TAS5756M: How to configure this device for subwoofer in high sampling rate domain?

Dear sir,

I would like to use this device in high sampling rate domain(96kHz and higher) to support High-Res.

For Woofer and Tweeter it can be configured as Hybrid5 or 7. However for Subwoofer it can't be configured as Hybrid4 due to supported sample rate.

Is there any solution for this? It prefer to set some registers to achieve this requirement.

Hello, There is an advanced configuration available under section 9.2.3.2 called Advanced 2.1 System... this requires Two TAS5756M devices, but should be able to support your need. Thanks, Jeff

Could you tell me which HybridFlows do I use to select "Advanced 2.1 System"?
I do not find any HybridFlow combinations to support high sampling rate domain such as 96kHz.

Hi,

Could you describe a bit more about your system?

If you are having a 2.1 system, HybridFlow 5 supports up to 192 kHz sampling rate on both stereo and mono speakers and HybridFlow 7 supports up to 96 kHz.

It might be OK to set HybridFlow5 or 7 for Stereo channel. But how do I configure TAS5756 for Subwoofer?

In addition I would like to use PBE and DBE feature for Stereo.

Hi Koji,

Please refer to the snapshot below: (which is available in App Note " Using the TAS5754/6M and PCM5242 HybridFlow Processor")

The SDOUT coming from the first device serves as the input to the second device. Channel C here represents the subwoofer.

However, our higher sampling rate options now do not support PBE and DBE.

You'd probably want to take a look at our newer device TAS5782M. The snapshots below are the supported features in 2.0 and 1.0 mode.

I can download TAS5782M datasheet but can not find the above select audio mode support table in it. So could you share it with me?

Maybe TAS5782M as the second device can solve the high sampling rate input issue.

However I think TAS5756M as the first device can NOT solve to support both the high sampling rate input and PBE/DBE feature simultaneously. What do you think about it?

Those pictures were captured from the PPC3 GUI so please send your email address to Jeff so that he would approve your access to it.

And you're right, for TAS5756M, the higher sampling rate process flows now do not support PBE and DBE.

Thank you for your kind reply. I just request PPC now and understand TAS5756M does not support PBE and DBE at the higher sampling rate process flows. If you have any alternative device to support PBE and DBE at the higher sampling rate, please let me know.
