PCM1794: Question about digital inputs and jitter

Part Number: PCM1794

PCM1794 has mclk input and 3 I2S inputs include bclk. I believe that the clock is used as base clock for modulators is bclk, so bclk is jitter critical clock, not mclk. Am I right?

  • Hi, Leonid,

Welcome to E2E, Thanks for your interest in our products!.

The PCM1794A requires a system clock (SCK or MCLK) for the operation of the interpolation filters and DAC modulators. In this device, BCLK is used for the audio serial interface purposes only. It is recommended for the system clock to have low-phase jitter and noise for the better performance.
