Selection of Audio Codec

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3212, TLV320AIC3262, TLV320AIC3105

Hi,

I have 2 modules with below audio interfaces

Module-A : Mic-In[electret with internal bias], Speaker-Out, Loud Speaker-Out[AB amplifier]

Module-B : PCM/I2S interface

What i want to implement is given in the image,

Can someone suggest me any codec which can implement above requirement

  • Hi,

Based on the picture that you showed, it seems that you require:

    - 1 Audio Serial Interface (I2S/PCM)
    - Microphone input
    - Headphone output
    - Speaker output
    - Analog inputs/outputs

Based on these requirements, I would suggest to take a look at the TLV320AIC3212 or the TLV320AIC3262 (similar than the TLV320AIC3212 but with programmable miniDSP).

For additional information about our audio devices, you may take a look at our Audio Selection Tool:

  • We have added one more module with Speaker-Out, below is final bd

    Will TLV320AIC3105 address below query

1- mic input can be bypassed to module-2 when required

    2- codec requires minimum configuration

3- as module-2 mic input has inbulit bias circuit will it not effect operation

4- has inbuilt speaker and headphone amplifier

    5- is this correct

    total analog input = 3

    total analog output = 3

6- must be able to operate on battery

  • Hi,

The TLV320AIC3105 supports 6 single-ended inputs and 6 outputs (4 outputs supports headphone loads). This audio codec doesn't support speaker output. In order to connect a speaker to the codec, you would need an external speaker amplifier. Otherwise, you would need a enhanced audio codec such the TLV320AIC3212 or TLV320AIC3262.

Our audio codecs can operate with batteries since they designed for portable applications. They require power supplies of 1.8V, 3.3V and 5V when they have Class-D outputs.
