TAS5756M: no sound with input I2S change

Part Number: TAS5756M

Hello Audio Folks, my customer meets a strange issue with TAS5756. The design is for an Atmos sound bar. In playing Atmos disc, the sampling rate will go to 96KHz. The DSP will convert the sampling down to 48KHz. But, there is still a short delay so that the 96KHz sampling will still happen in the I2S input. It will make TASS5756 no sound output.

Customer is using Hybridflow 8. Interestingly, after no sound output, if you change the "volume in", then, you will get sound output. But, if you change "volume in", it will have no sound again. But, change again, it has sound again and change again, no sound and so on. Sometime, it will have no sound no matter how you change "volume in"

I have tried to hook up customer board with our EVM I2C. I can duplicate the problem with the PPC2 control. If I reload Hybridflow 8 after no sound, then, you can gain back the sound output and no issue in "volume in". Also, it is no this issue if using other Hbridflow (I only actually try Hybridflow 1 and 2). Problem only happens on Hybridflow 8.

I also try the problem using our EVM using input from AP. I  try switching the input sampling rate between 48KHz and 96KHz with AP. It is true that there is no sound output for 96KHz as Hybridflow 8 is only for 48KHz. But, after switching back 48KHz, I don't encounter the no sound and strange volume in issue.

Actually, customer has also tried using AP with their board and do sampling switching. They also don't get the problem. The problem only happens on the Atmos disc playback. It may be the sampling swtiching is fast. With AP, we do the switching manually which is slow.

Can anyone give a hand on this issue? Customer is very urgent.

Regards,

Kes
