TLV320DAC3120EVM-U: ACEV-1A EVM Software Protocol

Part Number: TLV320DAC3120EVM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320DAC3120

Hello Team,

Posting on behalf of my customer:

I was wondering if it would be possible to get the specification (or protocol) used between the ACEV-1A EVM Software and the TLV320DAC3120EVM?  What I’d like to accomplish is to be able to hook our device up to the EVM Software to be able to tweak the settings and DAC Filters of the TLV320DAC3120 on our device instead of the EVM.  Our device has a USB port, and I am able to implement an HID interface.  So, I believe I would just need the protocol.

Thank you,

Keith

  • Hi Keith,

These boards (and most of our audio EVMs) use TAS1020B as a bridge between the DUT and the control software.
PC/software communicate with TAS1020B with TI USB Audio-EVM firmware and then TAS1020B send I2C commands and I2S to the DUT.

  • Hi Ivan,

Understood.  Do we have any documentation, other than the PC Software/TAS1020B source code, that describes this protocol?  The customer wants to emulate the TAS1020B USB->I2C bridge in his target MCU so that he can use the EVM GUI to test the TLV320DAC3120.

    Thanks,
    Keith

  • Keith,

Unfortunately I don't have access to source code of our GUIs and don't have much more info about drivers and firmware.
Does customer have an EVM? If they want to control DAC3120 in their system through GUI perhaps they can use an EVM, remove TLV320DAC3120 from the board and use the I2C/I2S test points to connect them to the TLV320DAC3120 in their own system.

    Best regards,
