Need suggestion for a balanced input AES/EBU receiver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM9211, SRC4382

Hello,

I need to design an 8-channel AES/EBU receiver with balanced inputs.

It will interface with an audio processor I2S inputs. The audio processor has SRCs. So the receiver may or may not have a built-in SRC.

Kindly suggest me my choices and do let me know if you need any further information from my side.

Thanks in advance!!

Ravindra Desai.

  • Hi Ravindra,
Based on the available requirements, I think PCM9211 would be a good device to evaluate.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions regarding the same or please feel free to share more details about your system requirements and we would be happy to evaluate the same and fine tune the recommendations to fit the specific needs. Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ravi
  • Hello Ravi,

Thank yo for your early reply. The PCM9211 does not have differential/ balanced inputs. This is needed as the digital audio source (cinema server) is located in a noisy environment.

I am looking at SRC4382/92 that has balanced inputs. However, it is costly and does not seem to have a hardware mode for stand alone use without needing a microcontroller.

I am looking into the datasheet to check if the default settings allow 24-bit, 48KHz, I2S mode.

    Thanks!!

  • Hello again Ravi,

I am back to your suggestion of PCM9211. Can you suggest a converter/ attenuator circuit for balanced AES/EBU signal to un-balanced AES/EBU and also interface/ attenuator for unbalanced AES/EBU signal to un-balanced AES/EBU signal that I can use with the PCM9211?

Do let me know if you need any further information from my side.

    Thanks!!

    Ravindra Desai.
