tlv320aic3254EVM-K

I guess I forgot to add the questions in my post of 24 Aug 2010 1:23 AM .
Setting the stage: I ordered this evm and found out it did not work with Vista. I did a little research and ran across this post http://e2e.ti.com/support/data_converters/audio_converters/f/64/t/30629.aspx
which indicates that the evm-u s/w will work with evm-k module and I loaded and ran the evm-k s/w on a PC that runs XP. I figured  I would then perform the upgrade mentioned in the other post and voila! I would be in business.

I was successful in getting evm-k running and actually streamed audio from the usb thru to the headphones out jack on the evm-k. So far so good.

I then downloaded the evm-u s/w, loaded it and I think I may have failed to remove the evm-k s/w before doing so.

Now to run the dfutest.exe program to enable the evm-k to run on vista, but I really did not see anything in the eeprom panel to indicate that this was possible.I attempted to change the sample rate but got nothing.

After this when I plugged in the module I got an error message that the usb device was malfunctioning and device manager said there was no driver. I have removed and reinstalled the s/w package a number of times and after removal the registry looks clean. Check Ni and Texas Instruments in HKLM software.

Questions:

Does this sound like a h/w or a s/w issue.
If s/w issue, is it correctible?
Any other suggestions before I try to send this back?
Why doesnt the evm-u come with the upgrade to vista already on it?
