TPA3251: Single mono output from TPA3251

Part Number: TPA3251

I only need one 30-watt output from a TPA3251. If I use the A and B paths for a bridge output, I want to disable C and D.

How should I connect the various C and D channel pins?

Do I need a topside heat sink to get a single 30 watt output with a 24 volt supply?

  • Another question: what is the relationship between the frequency adjust resistor value and the switching frequency?

  • Hi John,

    For inputs C and D you would want to ground them if they are not in use. The information regarding setup configurations can be found here: http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slac735 .

    Regarding the outputs to C and D, the only thing you need connect them would be the bootstrap capacitors.

    The Freq_adjust resistor changes the frequency in the following way:

    10kohms=600kHz (Nominal)

    20kohms=500kHz (AM1)

    30kohms=450kHz (AM2)

    You can find more information about this in section 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions of the TPA3251EVM Datasheet (page 6).

    Best Regards,

    Robert
