TPA3116D2: Mono mode with Bluetooth, Aux or usb input signal.

Hi,

I have a consumer product with the TPA3116 amplifier, which I am very satisfied with, and very nice compactness, it is great!

But it starts to distort a little bit too early so I was hoping I could try the mono mode.

How would I put the TI TPA3116 into mono mode when I got bluetooth, aux or usb sound as input signals?

Hope it is possible.

Hello Alexander! Shawn can answer any further technical questions you may have, but just so we are clear on what you are trying to do I have a couple of questions. For a PBTL mono application you would need to configure the design to what is recommended in 7.4.1 Mono Mode (PBTL) of the datasheet. Also, at what point does the distortion begin and under what conditions? E.G. what supply voltage are you providing and what power level are you seeking to drive and into what type of speaker load? Hi Alexander,

As Jeff described, we have very detailed introduction about Mono mode in section 7.4.1 in TPA3116D2 datasheet. In Mono mode, lower resistance speaker can be supported to achieve higher otutput power.
