TLV320AIC3254EVM-K: same results when using different settings of FM noise reduction in pure path studio?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254EVM-K

Hello,

I have been trying to remove the background noise using FM noise reduction, initially i had difficulty compiling the process flow, i had to disble the adaptive control of the miniDSP with FM noise reduction block to compile it. Anyways I am using 8kHz sample rate in my process flow to remove the noise recorded from microphone in the workshop. However i am getting the same result no matter what setting of threshold and attenuation i use.

1) I just wanted to make sure if the FM noise reduction is compatible with 8kHz sample rate because in the help file it is mentioned it works well with 32kHz sample rate?

 2) All the parameters has a expected range from  -2147483648 to 2147483647, however i am assuming only acceptable value for threshold and attenuation is 0-20dB.

3) I dont understand what is  anticipated noise floor? Can we change the parameter of anticipated noise floor depending on noise floor level?

I am attaching the process flow, settings screenshot and the sound file used for this test.

  • Hi, Ez,

The FM noise reduction Algorithm should operate correctly with 8KHz. Would it be possible for you to test this block at 32KHz, which is the optimized frequency for this block?. I will take a detailed look to your questions and process flow question and will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Hello Diego,

Thank you for looking into this, i am looking forward for your response. I tested the block at 32kHz and the results are same.

    Best Regards,
