PCM5102A: Behavioral when directly connecting XSMT pin to AVDD with an external 1.8V supply for both DVDD and LDOO

Part Number: PCM5102A

Hi,

There is mentioned on page 16 of PCM5102A data sheet "In systems where XSMT is not required, it can be directly connected to AVDD".
So, does PCM5102A work normally if directly connecting XSMT pin to AVDD with an external 1.8V supply for both DVDD and LDOO ?
Likewise, does PCM5102A work normally if directly connecting XSMT pin to DVDD with an external 1.8V supply for both DVDD and LDOO ?
The typical thresholds for XSMT pin are shown on page 31 as below.

Could you please give me your advice above it ?

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hello Kato-san,

I understand the confusion from the datasheet, and I will seek out clarification from the design team. On page 30 there is a note warning the user not to allow XSMT to exceed DVDD +0.3V to avoid damaging the device. I think the best solution would be to connect XSMT to DVDD if you are not using it.

I hope to fully answer your questions today.

    Thanks!
    Paul
  • Kato-san,

I have confirmed with our design team that XSMT operates on the DVDD domain. So in the case where DVDD and LDOO is 1.8V, the text is not correct as it assumes DVDD=AVDD=3.3V. Thanks for pointing this out for us.

So to clarify, if you have DVDD and LDOO = 1.8V, you should connect XSMT to DVDD (1.8V) if you are not using the soft mute functionality.

    Thanks!
    Paul
  • Hi Paul-san,
