Hi,

My customer considers using TAS5421-Q1 in conjunction with a speaker with two-way crossover network such as a drawing below.

Can you help to clarify that TSA5421-Q1, especially Load diag. function can detect speaker status correctly?

Hi Ken,

The load diagnostics in the TAS5421-Q1 can only test speakers that are DC coupled. Therefore, the speakers that have the series coupling capacitors cannot be diagnosed with the TAS5421-Q1 load diagnostics.

Hi Greg,

Thank you for your support. It's good information for me.
Do you think that load diag. can detect the failure of cable in between ECU and speaker unit?
I suppose that we still have the woofer unit which it connected to TAS5421-Q1 in DC, while tweeter is not.

Hi Ken,
You are correct. The TAS5421-Q1 will detect a cable failure between the speaker outputs of the amplifier and the Speaker unit as shown. It will detect the woofer, but not the tweeter.
