What is the Current rating value of the body diode in the output FET?

    We do not characterize or test the body diode in the output FET. Therefore, we cannot guarantee any current rating of the body diode. When a speaker output is shorted to power, the in-rush current from the output pin the in PVDD pin to charge the large electrolytic can be very large. The electrolytic capacitor has large tolerances so this in-rush current will vary over production.

    The work-around is to place a Schottky diode in parallel with the body diode to carry the current is this fault occurs. The Schottky diode is tested and rated for current and can be guaranteed for proper function.
