TPA3244: VDD, GVDD Maximum Current Draw

Hi team,

I'm using TPA3244 and looking for a DC/DC converter to drop my PVDD (30V) down to 12V for VDD and GVDD. I'd like to know the maximum current draw for these pins in order to know what kind of current rating I should look for on my switcher.

In addition, do you have any recommendations for which switcher to use for this purpose? (I do see the devices used on the EVM, but I was wondering if there were any other recommendations.)

Hi Brian,

The maximum current draw from the VDD and GVDD depends on the application. In the datasheet page 7, it shows that for 50% duty cycle VDD= 40mA and GVDD_X= 15mA, so approximately 70mA with a 50% duty cycle if both full-bridges are being used. The device will consume more current for different duty cycles but shouldn't be a drastic increase.

I can't say I have any recommendations for any particular switcher.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the feedback. I can see those values in the datasheet, but they are the typical values. I didn't know how much variation exists between the typical and max current draw on these pins, which prompted the original question. If there isn't too much variation, that should help me select a switcher. Thanks.
