PGA2500: Gain error

Part Number: PGA2500

Hello,

Our customer has built engineering sample unit using PGA2500 for semi-professional studio equipment.

Gain error specification is 0.5dB(typ) on datasheet but actual sample has +/-0.8dB gain error.

There is not (max) number on datasheet but what is 6 sigma spec of Gain error?

They will develop another two projects but they have big concern about this spec because +/-0.8dB error is too large at 1dB step PGA.

Regards,

Mochizuki

  • Mochizuki-san,

The PGA2500 +/-0.5 dB Gain Error specification is a typical value and from device to device it may be more, or less, at a particular gain setting. It will also vary across the full range for a single device. A gain error of +/-0.8 dB is within the realm of reasonableness for a typical parameter for which no maximum is specified.

If a +/-0.8 dB gain error for a 1 dB step is too large to meet the application's needs, then a different PGA must be used.
