TLV320AIC3106: Complete newbie: How to drive speakers from headphone drivers?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3128D2, TPA2012D2, TPA3129D2, TPA2015D1

Hi. We are using a SOM which has TLV320AIC3106 on it. We want to use speakers, but TLV320AIC3106 has output for headphones.

I am complete newb regarding audio electronics, but I guess I need to use amplifier for this.

Can you give me some advice regarding this issue? What amplifier to use?

Should I have asked this in Audio amplifier Forum of Ti e2e?

Best regards,

Karlis Tucs

  • Hi, Karlis,

As you mention, the TLV320AIC3109 has only headphone and line outputs. These outputs can be used to drive an analog input amplifier. The amplifier requirement is dependent on the end-system specs, you can go from a low power amp like TPA2015D1 or TPA2012D2, or go with mid-power amps like the TPA3128D2 or TPA3129D2.

For a detailed amplifier recommendation, you can check with my colleagues of the Audio Amplifier Forum.
