PCM2706: Trouble connecting PCM2706 to TPA2011

Part Number: PCM2706

We're connecting the PCM2706 (USB audio CODEC) to a TPA2011 (analog class-D amplifier).  It looks like we should be able to connect one of line outs from the PCM2706 to in+ on the TPA2011, and VCOM from the PCM2706 to in- on the TPA2011 (both through resistors).

The only problem I can see arising is a popping sound, either when the device is turned on, or then the audio codec is engaged.

I'm wondering if there is some recommendation on how to avoid this, or if that's not necessary.

  • Hi, EEngineer505,

For the PCM2706C output we have some filter recommendations to avoid pop noise issues, I would recommend you to take a look to the app note in this wiki article and check the output filter recommendations for line outputs [section8.2].
