TAS5411-Q1: Questions about how to use TAS5411-Q1

Part Number: TAS5411-Q1

Hello,

Would you please answer the following questions ?

① Initial setting value of Control Register

What is the default value of the Control Register immediately after TAS 5411 - Q 1 is activated?

Is it the setting of 01111000 of the data sheet 19 page Table 8. Control Register (0x03)?

② Can I use the pullup voltage of FAULT Pin (14 pin) at 4.87 to 5.15 V?

③ MUTE Pin (8 Pin) is Active-high, but what is the threshold value for detecting high?

Best Regards, Orobianco

  • I will answer using your numbers.
    1. The initial or default value in the datasheet is correct. Your value of 01111000 or 0x78 is correct.
    2. The fault pin is is the same as the SCL, SDA, /STANDBY pins, so the absolute max is 5V. I would not use a 5.15Vdc power supply. A 3.3Vdc power supply is recommended.
    3. The threshold is not provided in the datasheet. It is best to pull it fully to 3.3 or fully to ground for proper operation.
  • Hello Mr.Gregg.

    Thank you for you replay.
    My question has been resolved.

  • Hello Mr.Gregg.

Sorry, let me check once more.

    >2. The fault pin is is the same as the SCL, SDA, /STANDBY pins, so the absolute max is 5V. I would not use a 5.15Vdc power supply.
    > A 3.3Vdc power supply is recommended.

Regarding the above answers, although the description of the rating is 5 V in the data sheet,
Under recommended operating conditions on the next page, the MAX value of SCL / SDA is 5.5 V.
Regarding this point, when I checked it the previous time, 5 V is a mistake in the data sheet,
I got an answer from you that 5.5 V is correct.

    >Orobianco,
    >It seems you have found an error in our datasheet. The absolute maximum on the SCL, SDA, and STANDBY pins is 5.5Vdc max. We will >update this.

    Again,
Could you tell me the usable MAX value of the input voltage or pull-up voltage for the following Pin?

    2 Pin: / STANDBY
    4 Pin: SDA
    5 Pin: SCL
    8 Pin: MUTE
    14 pin: / FAULT

In my customer's product planned to adopt TAS5411-Q1,
Because the power supply is only two systems, battery (MAX 16 V) and 5 V (4.87 to 5.15 V),
they want to use 5 V for the control part.

    Best regards,
    Orobianco
  • Orobianco,

I answered too quickly.  Yes, the absolute maximum is 5.5Vdc. I am sorry I mislead you.

  • Hello Mr.Gregg.

    Thank you for your reply.

In conclusion, for all of the following terminals,
Is it OK to operate the upper limit of the input voltage or pull-up voltage in the range of 4.87 to 5.15 V?

    -----------------------
    2 Pin: / STANDBY
    4 Pin: SDA
    5 Pin: SCL
    8 Pin: MUTE
    14 pin: / FAULT
    ------------------------

    Best regards,
    Orobianco
  • Orobianco,
Yes you may use a power supply up to 5.15Vdc.
  • Hello Mr.Gregg.

    Thank you for your reply.
    My question has been resolved.

    Best Regards,Orobianco.
