CODEC/DAC for Linear PCM

Hello!

I need to convert the ".wav" file which is " Linear PCM" digital audio to analog. S can I convert it with a DAC or I have to use a PCM CODEC?

Also Suggest me a Part number.

Hi, Zain,

Unfortunately our codecs are not capable of reading directly .Wav files directly, so an external processor is required to send the data to our codecs.

Hi Diego!
Of course we are using "RM57L843" micro controller to read and stream digital audio to CODEC. Controller will stream 16 bit digital audio. So I want to know that is "DAC" enough for "Linear PCM" data or we have to use a "PCM CODEC"?

Hi, Zain,

Thanks for the feedback.The codec or DAC selection depends mostly on the end-requirements of your system in terms of power, number of outputs, performance, etc. Almost all of our devices can operate with 16-bit data so that is not an issue, but the available output formats that your processor can handle should match the codec/dac specs. If you don't need analog to digital conversion, a DAC should be a better option.
