Linux/TLV320AIC3106: Hiss sound in background

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2005D1

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

I have integrate TLV320AIC3106 with AM335x. I have connected 8ohm speaker to LEFT_LOP & LEFT_LOM.

When I boot AIC3X tlv320aic3x-hifi-0 is detect as card. If I play a wave file I am able to hear the song but with that I am hearing a hiss sound in background. After the song stops this noise will be there for about 3-4 secs and stops.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

Thanks and Regards,

Dileep

  • Hello Dileep,

Of course this is not normal behaviour for our codec, however it is difficult for me to know why this is happening since I have no insight into what is happening on the software end. That being said, we are unable to provide software or driver support, what I can do is help you with setting up the AIC3106. In that regard, it would be very helpful to have more details on how you are configuring the device. (clock source, PLL settings, signal routing, etc...)

    best regards,

  • Hi Steve,

I have attached the amplifier circuit. When tested at codec output as volume is very less i am not able to hear the hiss sound.

    Is this circuit suitable for AIC3106 LEFT_LOP & LEFT_LOM.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Dileep

  • Dileep,

The circuit is just fine for the AIC3106, but the input resistors set the gain of the TPA2005D1, and with560 ohm resistors on the input of the TPA2005, you are going to have extremely high gain.
according to Equation 20 in the TPA2005D1 Datasheet, the gain will be 2*150k/560 = 535.7 V/V Which is really high. I would recommend that you change those resistors.  The TPA2005D1 Datasheet recommends a gain of 2 V/V or lower for optimal performance.

    best regards,
