TLV320AIC3104: HPL configuration.

Part Number: TLV320AIC3104

Hi,

Is the below configuration OK to drive hp on HPLOUT and HPLCOM from left DAC and PGA_L? (See diagram below)

1) Configure the HPLOUT ad HPLCOM as differential in register 37.

2) Configure PGA_L route to HPLOUT in register 46.

3) Configure DAC_L1 route to HPLOUT in register 47. (hp signal come from left DAC)

If HPLOUT and HPLCOM have been configured as differential, can I ignore the routing setting for HPLCOM in register 53, 54, 56, 57?

Thanks.

- YY

  • HI, YY,

The configuration you point out is correct, I have just a couple comments:

    • Is the audio for the HP output a mix between DAC and Analog input (PGA_L)?. If so, the configuration of registers 46 and 47 is fine.
    • When configured as differential of HPLOUT, no further configuration is required for HPLCOM. the configuration of registers 53, 54, 56 and 57 is required only when HPLCOM is used to playback a single-ended output.

  • Hi Diego,

In datasheet, register 86, D0 is a readonly status bit. However, we found that if this bit is not written to '1', left_lop/m output is unbalanced & register 94 bit D4 keeps showing left_lop/m is not powered up. Kindly advise.

    Thanks.

  • Hi, YY,

Thanks for the feedback. Effectively, bit D0 of register 86 should be set as '1' to fully power-up the headphone drivers. As you mention, this bit is specified as read only, but it should be Read/Write, there is a typo in the datasheet. We will fix it in the next revision.
