TPA2031D1: Using Class-D audio amplifiers for DC signals

Dear all,

I'm looking for a small-footprint, high efficiency amplifier for low frequency signals having a significant DC (or quasi-DC) bias.

TI audio amplifiers such as the TPA2031 look very attractive for this purpose. But would they accept the DC bias ?

Any idea of the linearity and stability of the DC gain I can expect ?

Hi Julien,

Welcome to E2E, thanks for your interest in our products.
This device is a Class-D Audio Amplifier and it is designed to work in the hearing range (20Hz to 20KHz). There shouldn't have a problem if the device works within this range.

But what wuold happen below 20Hz ? for example with a pure DC signal ?

Hi Julien,

The power dissipation increases until the device is damaged or activates its thermal protection due to the direct current component.
