TLV320DAC3203: About setting for BiQuad x 3+DRC condition

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: TLV320DAC3203

About TLV320DAC3203 DAC function, please let me check about BiQuad x 3+DRC and DAC fs=16kHz solution below.

-----------------------------------------------------------

①I think that recommend way is choice below application note Page-23, PRB_R1~PRB_R18.

In thin case is match the PRB_P5, is it correct?

②If ① is correct, unnecessary BiQuad are No=2~23,and set to N1=N2=D1=D2=0, is it correct? (In the Mono condition)

③Is interpolation filter need to set "A"? (Because DAC_FS=16kHz condition)

④About DRC, HPF cutoff is default: 0.00166*DAC_FS, LPF cutoff is default: 0.00033*DAC_FS.

I think that in the case of HPF and LPF both using, it have no bandwidth.

This meaning DRC is not perform in default and should change set point of conforming with condition, is it correct?

-----------------------------------------------------------

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

Based on your requirements, you can use PRB_P5 as you suggested in 1.
If you will only use 3 BiQuads you should leave the other 2 BiQuad coefficients with their default values. Default values are all-pass.
You can use interpolation filter A or B, both have a pass band of 0 to 0.45Fs.
I will check about DRC HPF and LPF default conditions, but I would say you're right.

    Sorry for additional question,

Customer is hope to set below spec on DRC, but they didn't find setting point for resistor map.
Which resistor map are below setting?

    ---------------------
    ・Attack time: Ta= 1ms
    ・Release time: Tr= 50ms
    ・Swing Ratio: R= 1/8
    ---------------------

    Best regards,
    Satoshi
  • Hi Satoshi-san,

On TLV320DAC3203 DRC you set Attack and Decay RATE, which means that you set the slope for the DRC reaction, not a time. The DRC Hold time could be used as Release time. The swing ratio would be implemented in the Attack/Decay rate as well.
