TLV320AIC3254: Are there specs for noise in the PGA of TLV320AIC32x Codecs?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204, TLV320ADC3101,

Hi, I can't see a spec in the datasheet for the input referred noise of the PGA in any audio codec. I can see noise and THD specs at 0dB PGA gain for the ADC but not when the PGA is on. I'm using a TLV320ADC3101 in an existing product and I'd like to know if I use a TLV320AIC3204 or 3254 in a new product if the PGA noise is the same. The PGA in the TLV320ADC3101 has 40dB max gain and the TLVAIC320AIC3204 or 3254 have 47.5dB max gain but do they have similar input referred noise. So to be clear if they both have their PGAs set to 40dB gain would they have the same output noise from both PGAs into the input of the ADC? Where do I find the specs for the PGA's noise in the different codecs?

Regards, Mark

  • Hi, Mark,

Unfortunately, It seems that the input referred noise for the TLV320AIC3254 [and other codecs] was not characterized, however, I think the performance should be very similar to the TLV320ADC3101.
