TAS5630 for PA application

Hello!

I think about the  application design of the Power Amplifier of PublicAddress.

The output of the power amplifier is connected with the speaker through the transformer.

the input impedance of the transformer is 3ohm,and the output impedance is 27ohm.

the output of the amplifier is about 360W-400W.

As the inspection, I connected a transformer to TAS5630DKD2EVM.

I connected 27ohm resistance for load to a transformer.

I set EVM in a PBTL mode.

I set EVM in a reset state.

And I powered on DC48V-SwitchingPowerSupply(600W class).

I removed reset after it is confirmed that RESET LED lights.

I input a -1dBm/1kHz sine wave after it is confirmed that READY LED lights.

The primary side voltage of the transformer is 30Vrms(270W/3ohm) then.

After voltage confirmation, I stopped -1dBm/1kHz sine wave.

The accident happened when I input -1dBm/kHz sine wave again.

EVM was damaged with input signal.

When I connect the transformer which have an inductor ingredient as load of the amplifiers, I want to know whether there is the matter which you should consider.

Is the Overvoltage generated?
Is the overvoltage protection circuit necessary?

I ask for the advice that is good who it is.

  • Masa, I have puzzled about what caused this.  I do not see why it should be the transformer load, so I think maybe it is the input signal.

Can you capture the input signal as you turned it on the second time?  Connect it to the EVM as before, and repeat the turn on a few times and capture it each time.  I believe there may be some transient that occurs when the signal source is turned on.  (I have seen problems like this before.)

    Best regards,

    Steve.
