TLV320AIC3204: TLV320AIC3204 PC mic not working

Hi Team,

One of our customer is using TLV320AIC3204 and want to know weather a normal PC MIC is compatible with this CODEC TLV320AIC3204. They are evaluating ezDSP USBSTICK C5505 : Rev D EVM and using standard PC mic and not getting any result. They had done attached setting in the EVM. If this device required any compatible MIC, can you kindly share the details.

Please help with your comments to address this query.

Hi, Shinu,

Do you have more details on the type of PC microphone used by customer?. The EVM you mention accepts only line level inputs, in order to use a mic, the signal of the mic should be properly conditioned for line levels. Micbias pin is not even connected in the EVM you mention, so a generic electret mic that requires biasing cannot be used directly. Please refer to the schematic of this EVM for detailed information.

Hi, Shinu,

Thanks for the feedback. It seems that the headset customer is using does not have an internal circuitry that could be powering-up the mic, so micbias power is required for the mic to operate. The EVM you are using doesn't have it connected unfortunately.
